Weight Loss: A Mullingar Lady’s Experience (in her own words)

Since the beginning of 2015, the Whelehans Weight Loss Clinic has been in operation and we already have had successful weight loss stories for a number of my clients. The clinic is only €10 per week and not only do I offer advice on weight loss but I help to keep you motivated on your weight loss journey. It offers great value for money not only for those hoping to lose weight, but those who want to change their life in a positive way including being more energised, improving your mood, confidence etc; all this can be done in a natural way through small changes in your diet. I am a qualified nutritionist and my aim for the clinic is to provide safe and effective weight loss. I supervise and offer advice on healthy and effective weight loss. Each week your weight is documented and tracked and I review your food diary from the previous week. The food diaries are vital as they allow me to see what you are eating and I recommend alternative foods to add some variation.
Many of my clients have had great weight loss success and one such client, Mary Mc’Cormack from Mullingar, has lost over 5 stone since starting in the clinic in late February 2015. I asked Mary her thoughts on the clinic and what advice she can offer others:

Whelehans Weight Loss Clinic has made me a happier and healthier person and for that I want to thank Aisling for all her help and support. When I started the clinic I was tipping the scales at over 23 ½ stone; I was unhealthy and miserable.
How did the Whelehans Weight Loss Programme benefit you most?
It educated me on healthy eating and what a balanced diet was. Before the clinic my mood was low; I was extremely unhappy and felt sluggish. I was binging on packets of biscuits and eating takeaways daily. Now I feel proud of myself for the hard work I have done; I still have a bit to go on my weight loss journey but I’m feeling a million times healthier. I look forward to seeing Aisling every week and find it easier to talk to her one to one than in a group. She is qualified in nutrition so I know the advice is the best I am getting.
What was the hardest part about following the Whelehans Weight Loss Programme?
The first week was the hardest as I had to cut out all sweet foods and junk foods. I was so used to eating them out of habit and not even enjoying the foods. Once I broke the habits I saw these foods as treats and something I looked forward to having every now and again. I never felt like I was losing out as Aisling gradually changed my diet over the first 2-4 weeks and it wasn’t a sudden shock to my system.
How did the Whelehans Weight Loss Programme differ from other methods of weight loss you tried in the past?
This programme is the easiest I have ever followed. Not only did Aisling offer me meals to eat but I also could ask her how to make meals I prepared healthier. All the food recommended can be bought in your local supermarket and there are no specialised or over complicated meals to eat. Previously I was on a weight loss programme that was very expensive to participate in and it consisted of drinking a liquid to lose weight. I felt cheated and never stuck to these types of programmes as I was always consumed with my hunger and how much of this or that food you could have. I would always lose weight on other programmes but once I stopped following them (as they were too hard to continue for a long period of time) I would pile back on the weight. I can follow this programme on my own as Aisling has educated me on food and what a balanced diet is.
What advice would you offer for people starting the Whelehans Weight loss Programme?
Go and start it today! I lose weight every single week; Aisling is so easy to talk to, she is honest and the advice she offers is like none I have received before. In every consultation I learn something new about eating healthy. I would advise people who are worried about their weight to go see Aisling; she has changed my life for the better.
Did the Whelehans Weight Loss Programme restrict you from social events? (Weddings, parties etc.)
Not at all; I’ve been to weddings and christenings and never missed out on the delicious food and cake. Aisling has thought me about portion sizes and eating everything in moderation. I never missed out or worried about events like that as I would have in the past. I didn’t have to worry about counting calories or that the food couldn’t be eaten as I did when I was on a “liquid” weight loss fad diet etc.
Would you recommend the Whelehans Weight Loss Programme to others?
Yes, 100% it’s changed my outlook on food, I now enjoy eating. Watching the weight drop off every week is amazing. I no longer crave sweet or fatty foods and if I do, I know I can have a little and not feel the need to over eat. I have been getting compliments from people I know and I feel proud and happy. I am determined to keep going and I hope in a few more months I will have achieved my weight loss goal. My life has altered in a positive way.
