Autumn/Winter 2015 Fragrance Favourites

(Part 1)

The way warm cosy knits and oversized tartan scarves can ease the transition into the cold, dark rainy evenings, changing up your perfume from those sweet, fruity fragrances of summer can also take your attention away from the shortened days and miserable weather. Embrace the season with a scent that’s warm, woody and comforting or channel some positivity with a floral or citrus scent to help lift your spirits. In this article, I have compiled my top fragrance picks for Autumn/Winter 2015 for both ladies and men’s fragrances.

Gucci Bamboo® (ladies)

The House of Gucci launched this beautifully floral aroma earlier this year which was stimulated by the Gucci brand’s Bamboo collection of bags which were first introduced onto the catwalk way back in 1947. The fashion powerhouse intended for this perfume to reflect the Gucci woman’s confident character by creating this simultaneously smooth and intense fragrance. The duality of this fragrance is portrayed with solid notes which unfurl throughout the heart of the fragrance and right through to its final notes. Rich sandalwood, Tahitian vanilla and distinctive grey amber accords set off the natural femininity of the sultry floral notes of sensual Casablanca lily, feminine orange blossom and gentle ylang ylang. This fragrance was a massive success towards the end of summer 2015, especially those of us that tend to stay away from a heavier, muskier fragrance.

Dolce & Gabanna Intenso® (men)

Dolce & Gabanna took the opportunity to release Intenso as a new and refined edition of the Dolce & Gabanna Pour Homme from 2012. I would describe it as an aromatic, woody fragrance that exudes masculinity, while representing a contrast between clean and fresh with a rich and warm aroma. This particular fragrance opens with fresh aquatic notes and green nuances of basil and lavender. This year a brand new chord has been added to the fragrance world straight from South Africa taking the name of Moepel wood; it has not only featured in ALL of the newest fragrances, but also makes up much of the heart of Intenso along with luxurious floral notes and honey accents. The intensity of this fragrance is down to the base notes of labdanum, sandalwood and cypress, while the tobacco essence is deepened by dry notes of hay and bran. As if the addition of hay, moepel wood and tobacco didn’t make this a truly masculine scent, perfect for all our charming Irish men, Dolce & Gabanna added our very own Colin Farrell as the official face of this fragrance!

To be continued…next week I will discuss more of my seasonal fragrance favourites
