Aislings Makeup essentials and must haves

Posted by Lorraine Hales on

We all have makeup “must-haves” we can’t do without! The question I pose…. if you lost all your makeup what would you rush out and buy?

 Primer

Many don’t consider primer essential but I find it prolongs the life of my foundation and eyeshadow. So many primers on the market make choosing mind boggling! Do you want to reduce shine?...hide appearance of pores?....add back in moisture?....if so…I recommend Catrice® Prime and Fine as it has a silicone texture and keeps natural oils at bay for 6-8 hours; best of off it costs less than €6!

Even with the most pigmented eyeshadows, I always apply an eye primer to stop my eyeshadow from creasing and keep colours looking vibrant. Dab a small amount onto the eyelid before doing your eyeshadow; a little primer can go a long way but too much can crease the shadows.

 Eyebrow

The phrase “Eyebrows frame the face” is so true! I could spend 5 minutes trying to get my brows on point. I go with a colour that is two shades darker than my hair thus avoiding bold brows that look too “in your face” and unnatural. I love the Elizabeth Arden® Brow Pencil in the colour brownette as it adds the perfect dimension to my brows.

 Concealer

So many highlight their hair these days and concealer is the perfect way to add brightness to your face.  I use concealer to highlight under my eyes by taking a shade lighter than my foundation. Set your under eye area with a transparent powder as creasing can make your eyes look aged. If you want to conceal some blemishes or spots then go for a concealer that matches your foundation to avoid drawing attention to the area.

 Mascara

Mascara can instantly open up your eyes. Adding two coats of mascara to your top and bottom lashes can open up your eyes and make you look refreshed and doe eyed. I love the Elizabeth Arden® mascaras as they don’t flake and give me the falsie effect without looking too overdone.
