Posted by Lorraine Murphy on
The Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Range has been looking after generations of women’s skin and as a classic it will continue to do so for further generations. Elizabeth Arden is reputed to have used the original 8 Hour Protectant on her thoroughbred race horses’ legs with remarkable results. The 8 Hour Range has won numerous beauty awards over the years and deservingly so.
The most sought after product is the Original 8 Hour Protectant. This little miracle has been used by millions and is as popular today as ever. It can be used for so many things it is invaluable. It is great in the winter for chapped lips and dried patches; this protectant is also brilliant for healing broken cuticles, rough hands and elbows, soothing sunburn and softens callouses and is excellent for shaping eyebrows.
The 8 Hour Intensive Daily Moisturiser is a lovely non-sticky light moisture cream the gives fantastic hydration and leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. It also contains a SPF 15 to protect from sun damage. To complement the day cream there is the 8 Hour Night time Miracle Moisturiser. This is a lovely lightly lavender scented gel-cream that soothes and hydrates the skin while you sleep.
There are a range of lip protection products to suit all needs. The 8 Hour stick comes in two different balms depending on how much hydration and protection you need.
The most recent product in the 8 Hour range is the All-Over Miracle Oil. This oil is ultra-light and non-greasy. It is an intense blend of oils including tsubaki oil. As the oil is so light it can be used on the face, body and even the hair. Try the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Range and see and feel the difference for yourself.

Posted by Trish Wallace on
Sculpted cheekbones and contouring within an inch of our lives is great for nights out or days where you have 2 hours to get ready and want to look flawless, but what about the days when you are late getting up, have kids to get to school or just couldn’t be bothered putting on multiple layers of foundation and concealer? Lucky for us, top make-up artists have made life a little easier with “Tontouring”. This trend takes a little practise but when you have it nailed, it will change your makeup routine forever.
Here are my 3 simple steps to Tontouring:
- Apply a gradual tanning moisturiser all over the face using a stippling brush, I love the Vita Liberata Self Tanning Night Moisture Mask®, not only because it gives a fabulous glow to the skin, but also because it is super hydrating and won’t clog your pores.
- Next, use a darker self-tanner along with your stippling brush and in 1 quick sweep, create a short line underneath your cheek bone and also underneath the jawbone and chin. If you want to add a bit more definition to the face you can also add a small amount around the hairline. I find Cocoa Brown’s 1 Hour Mousse tan® the easiest product to work with as it doesn’t dry too quickly and makes the next step a lot easier!
- Lastly, blend blend blend!! I recommend using an angled brush and in small circular motions blend the tan together until there are no more harsh lines. Leave it for up to 8 hours, or depending on how dark you want your tan to be and in the morning, add a touch of highlighter or Cocoa Brown’s Golden Goddess® to your cheek bones and voila!, sculpted cheekbones for up to 5 days without the hassle every morning!

Skincare
Posted by Aisling Smith on
We all know how important it is to care for our skin but with so many products and treatments available, it’s hard to know what we should and shouldn’t be doing. The most important step to skincare is identifying what type of skin you have. Do you have dry, oily or combination skin? Do you have any skin problems such as congestion, blemishes or fine Lines? Once you establish what you need to treat it will help you when choosing your products. I’ve broken it down into easy steps to help you achieve healthy skin.
At night-time, I like to remove the bulk of make up with a micellar cleansing water. This saves you using a huge amount of cleanser to get stubborn make up off.
Next it’s time to cleanse, just removing make up is not enough! Double cleanse the face and neck using circular motions and rinse with warm water. Then apply a soothing toner to close the pores.
A moisturiser is very important to apply before bed. Our skin repairs and replenishes itself while we sleep and nourishing our skin is essential so it can do so.
Our morning routine is much simpler than our night time one so that helps when it comes to busy Mornings! Cleanse and tone the skin to remove impurities and apply moisturiser containing SPF. Even on dull days our skin needs protection.
Once a week try adding an exfoliation and mask to your routine. Exfoliating will break up and remove any dead skin cells. Applying a mask straight after will allow the product to go deeper into the pores and give our skin a little extra TLC!

Acrylic Nails
Posted by Aisling Smith on
Acrylic is made of a liquid monomer and powder polymer, which hardens as it is exposed to the air. It can be used to sculpt an artificial nail over the natural nail, to either match the shape of the nail or to extend it.
Acrylic versus Gel
Acrylic and gel are compared all the time. The reason why I love acrylic and choose to work with it instead of gel is because it is so robust. Although they have similar ingredients, the application and removal processes are different. Acrylic is much more durable than gel therefore is longer lasting. People also prefer the lightweight feeling of sculpted acrylics.
A common misconception of artificial nails or even gel polish, is that they damage the nails. With proper application, removal and care every day, the natural nails can remain damage free. Acrylics can be removed by soaking them in acetone. Proper removal is much better than pulling or picking off the artificial nails and it is always recommended that you go to a professional to have them removed.
How long will your acrylic nails last?
A common question I get asked is "how long do acrylic nails last?". This generally depends on the rate of growth each client has. In most cases it is recommended that you get a refill after four weeks. If a client’s nail growth is slower they can get a little longer out of them.
Home care is important for maintaining nail enhancements and keeping the natural nail healthy. I always recommend that my clients use hand-cream and cuticle oil every day or whenever they can.
Prices are:
- Full set of Acrylic Nails €40 (takes up to 2 hours)
- Refills €30
- Nail Designs from €2 per nail
