I would have oily combo skin, however come summer my oils go into overdrive and keeping my skin matte is difficult. Here are tips on keeping your makeup looking great for longer and keeping natural oils at bay.

Prolonging your makeup

One of the biggest issues we face (excuse the pun!) in summer is keeping our makeup looking flawless throughout the day. In the summer, I advise using a longer wearing foundation; something like Elizabeth Arden Perfectly Satin^® Flawless Finish Foundation is ideal; its long lasting, gives full coverage, but is not heavy or cakey. The tools to getting sweat proof makeup

Primer – primer is one of the key ingredients to getting a flawless base and making it last all day. One of my personal favourite primers is Catrice Prime and Fine^®, it costs less than €6 and does the best job at blurring out pores and increasing the life of your foundation.

Setting powder – Setting your makeup prevents makeup melting throughout the day. I love the Elizabeth Arden Setting Powders^®, they don’t look cakey on the skin and they keep my natural oils at bay for 5-6 hours. These powders come in a beautiful compact, ideal for touch ups during the day!

Setting sprays – The final must have for making your base sweat proof is a setting spray. There are so many on the market and they help fix your makeup in place for the day, they do wonders for removing that powdery finish from your face too. Try and get one that is alcohol free as this can dehydrate areas of the face. We want to keep our makeup from melting yet not dry out our skin.

There are many benefits to regularly using face masks as they nourish, moisturise, detoxify and increase blood flow to the surface of the skin. Skin in turn appears cleaner, brighter and smoother. Face masks come in different forms such as clay, gel, peel-off, and mud to oil, to name a few.  As with all skin care products it is important to use the mask that is most suitable for your skin type to gain optimum results.

The right mask for you?

For very dry skin you need a gentle, hydrating and soothing face mask. Thalgo® Melt Away Instant Mask will tend to all these needs.  This mask nourishes the skin leaving it supple and smooth eliminating feelings of tightness and discomfort that many people with dry skin experience.  This mask just needs to stay on for 10 – 15 minutes, then just gently rinse off.  Your skin will feel and look amazing.
