They retail at €44.99 per 30 pack from Whelehans Pharmacies Pearse St and Clonmore Mullingar. Usual dose is one daily, but this may be increased if needed; speak to our pharmacist about dosage.

Possible side effects and interactions

Although CBD is generally considered safe, it can cause side effects like diarrhoea and fatigue, it may interact with certain medications so always check with your pharmacist or doctor before taking. It should never substitute medicine prescribed by your GP.

Cannabidiol or CBD for short, is a chemical constituent of the cannabis plant made from Hemp. CBD oil can be legally sold in Ireland unlike its cousin marijuana (which is not legal). It is important to emphasise CBD oil is not marijuana and does not have the same effects. Marijuana contains both THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD, and these compounds have different effects.

THC is the psychoactive that gives the “high” people associate with marijuana whereas CBD does not give a “high” associated with illegal varieties of cannabis. To explain in scientific terms, unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive meaning CBD will not change a person’s state of mind.

Not a medicine

There needs to be more research done before CBD can be considered a treatment for any condition. Therefore, it is not yet licenced as a medicine in Ireland and is licenced as a food supplement rather than a medicine with the HPRA; therefore, it cannot be prescribed by doctors yet. It should never substitute conventional treatment with your doctor and always speak to health professional before using.

Disclaimer: Speak to our pharmacist before purchasing to see if it suitable and safe for you to use. CBD is not a medicine and not a cure and should not be used instead of prescribed medicines. Always speak to a health-professional before using
