How many times have you purchased a new foundation, only to go home and throw it in a drawer because you are sorry you bought it at all!! The colour just does not seem right or the texture does not feel good on your skin.  There are so many different foundation products on the market, BB, CC, DD, cream, liquid, compact, powder and mineral, to name but a few. 

Try before you buy

A really good foundation is a great investment if you get the correct advice when purchasing your new product.  Always, always try before you buy.  A good foundation is a vital part of your beauty routine to help look your best.  Talk to your beauty consultant and get her to try a few different types and shades on your jaw line.  Take time doing this and don’t have this done when you only have 5 minutes and are rushing back to work. This will be time and money well spent and save you making expensive mistakes in future.

Applying makeup is very personal; we all have our own techniques but a few tips I have picked up over the year may be of some help:

Foundation

Applying your foundation with a brush provides better coverage and makes blending out your foundation a dream. In Whelehans we have Real Techniques^® brushes which are brilliant for foundation application. A common mistake I used to make as a beginner was wearing the wrong shade of foundation; mismatched foundation can look very unnatural and obvious. To avoid this get a few samples of the foundation you wish to try or get the sales attendant to colour match you in store. When checking the foundation colours, apply to your jawline and not the back of your hand.
